Led the bilingual medical questionnaire on DVLA’s Drivers First Provisional Rails service — a flagship delivery called out by leads as the recent highlight.
Problem
Drivers renewing or applying for licences needed a clear medical declaration path in Welsh and English. The feature had to land inside a live Rails UI and a TypeScript serverless backend — without slowing the wider DFP programme.
System
Owned the Rails frontend work end to end: bilingual medical questionnaire flows, tight collaboration with BAs on legacy behaviour, and coordination with the TypeScript channel APIs behind the form. Kept PRs reviewable, shipped ahead of schedule so peers had time to test, and stayed the first port of call when the new Daleks squad had questions.
Outcome
A production medical declaration path used by real applicants. DVLA leads called it the recent highlight of delivery; peers noted independent feature leadership, sharp PR feedback, and guidance that raised the bar for the whole team.
